Paducah, KY: Turner Publishing, 2004

Quarto. 128 pp; full of color & b/w photographs; bibliography; index. Glossy pictorial boards with matching dustjacket. Fine/Fine, a new, unmarked copy. Featuring over 420 color photos, this book is a groundbreaking study of a major Southern furniture group not previously studied in depth. The most prominent Norfolk cabinetmaker during the first half of the 19th century was James Woodward. Other cabinetmakers during this period include John D. Ghiselin & Lewis Salusbury, Chester Sully, William M. Evans, Samuel Smith, Charles Beale, William C. Beale, Joseph Winslow, Theodorick Bland, William P. Saunders, William H. Barnes, Thomas F. Hatton, and others. The authors drew on the work of Ron Hurst through his extensive research for his MA thesis on Norfolk cabinetmakers.
